Representational yet expressive, my art is a visual journal illustrating places I live, experiences, emotions and ideas.
The natural world, which fosters positive feelings and creativity, is the focus of my work. Media and process, however, differ depending on the subject and studio situation as I live in two vastly separate locations.
One home is in Colorado where inspiration comes from the diverse environment. In this studio, I either paint directly onto paper or experiment with mono-printing where unpredictable marks appear. No matter the approach, drawing materials enhance compositions.
Studio number two is upon a sailboat, we travel anywhere from the Gulf of Mexico to the North Atlantic. Creativity and imagination arise from my love of the ocean and all it encompasses. In this mobile workspace, I enjoy the expressive flow of watercolor combined with mixed-media.
Whether the subject of my fine art be snowy peaks or tumbling seashells, the final processes are similar. I attach the image to a solid surface, apply layers of resin and develop the in-between layers with various materials. Traditional framing is not necessary as each piece is a sustainable work of art.
